Boeing, Despite Quarterly Loss, Is Optimistic About Industry Turnaround

Boeing Co. posted a first-quarter loss while saying the aerospace industry may soon experience a comeback. The maker of aircraft said its quarterly deficit was lower than the year-earlier period. Also, Boeing's deliveries of commercial aircraft increased from 2020's first quarter. CEO David Calhoun said this year may be "a key inflection point for our industry."

Ford, After Posting Q1 Profit, Warns Output May be Slashed by Chip Shortage


Ford Motor Co. reported a first-quarter profit compared with a year-earlier loss. The automaker said it faces challenges during the current quarter. Dearborn, Mich.-based Ford said its vehicle production may be reduced by 50 percent because of a global shortage of computer chips.
