Fiat Chrysler Pulls an Emily Litella. "Never Mind!"
So much for the urge to merge. Fiat Chrysler Automobiles abruptly stopped its efforts to merge with France's Renault. The automaker essentially pulled an Emily Litella and said, "Never mind!" FCA cited "political conditions in France," where the government owns a piece of Renault. FCA withdrew the offer less than 10 days after it made it public.
Air Rest Buttons detect proper workpiece loading
Air Rest Buttons detect proper workpiece loading
Pneumatic position control detects proper workpiece loading in a machining fixture, with Carr Lane Mfg.'s Air Rest Buttons. Units consist of a threaded body installed in a fixture, which holds a precision floating plunger. The plunger has a reamed hole, in three diameters, that accepts any height of Carr Lane's standard press-fit-type rest buttons. Proper placement of a workpiece causes the plunger to fully retract, sealing off air flow.

ISM: Manufacturing Slows in May, Faces 'Headwind' From Tariffs
Manufacturing expansion slowed in May and faces a major “headwind” in the form of tariffs, the Institute for Supply Management said in a monthly report. The group's manufacturing index for May reflected “near zero growth,” Timothy R. Fiore, chair of ISM’s Manufacturing Business Survey Committee, said on a conference call. The manufacturing economy may slow further in the third quarter amid rising U.S. tariffs.

Report: Money Is Prime Motive for Cyberattacks on Manufacturing
Money, not intellectual property or production disruption, continues to be the No. 1 goal of cybercriminals who breach manufacturers’ digital networks. The average amount of money stolen through business email attacks was $24,439, according to Verizon’s 2019 Data Breach Investigations Report, released in May. The 12th-annual DBIR report found that financially related attacks outnumbered cyberespionage as the main reason for breaches in manufacturing.
