Collaborative Robots: Hype or Hope?
Collaborative Robots: Hype or Hope?
Are cobots the answer to the manufacturing industry’s shortage of qualified workers? Most all machine shops and manufacturers will identify finding workers as the biggest obstacle to growth—and those who can find workers are challenged by low-labor-cost countries. Can automation solve all that?

CMMs Grow Their Niche
CMMs Grow Their Niche
For CMMs, the good times continue to roll. “One of the surprising things that has happened in just the last three to four years is the sheer volume of CMMs that we are shipping,” said Angus Taylor, president of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence, North America (North Kingstown, RI). “The market seems to be really exploding.” The question is why now?

Calculating True ROI for Robotic Automation
Calculating True ROI for Robotic Automation
When considering a new robotic automation system, one of the biggest concerns can be the weight of the initial costs. While such a large capital expense may be hard to swallow at first, it’s industry-proven that manufacturers see an average ROI of 24 months from robots. To arrive at a true ROI, it is necessary to not only compare the robot costs with the hourly wage of a human operator to do the same job for the same number of hours but also many other business costs and higher profit potential.

How Industry 4.0 Helps Manufacturers Solve Workforce Challenges
How Industry 4.0 Helps Manufacturers Solve Workforce Challenges
Stuck between a soon-to-be retired workforce and a cohort of young engineers and operators with comparatively less experience, manufacturers are in a bind. They have job openings, but can’t find qualified people to fill them. While the general public believes that all of the manufacturing jobs are going away, unemployment figures tell a different story.
Advanced Simulation to Leverage the True Additive Manufacturing Potential
Advanced Simulation to Leverage the True Additive Manufacturing Potential
With more than 30,000 additively manufactured parts a year going into production aircraft, trains and high end automobiles, Additive Manufacturing has now become an effective industrial production technique. While AM brings valuable opportunities to the industry (weight saving, customization, decreased time-to-market), it still faces the same challenges other manufacturing processes face to meet high requirement applications. These challenges call for advanced, customized simulation techniques to optimize the design to print workflow and determine the optimal process flow much faster and at a dramatically lower cost.

One singular, sensational product data source
One singular, sensational product data source
Just getting familiar with the digital thread? You’ve come to the right place to learn what it is and why you need it for your products. A digital thread is the uninterrupted connection of information related to a product, or any of its components. To get there, you have to capture, and keep connected, every relevant piece of digital data created about your product.
Getting Started With Office 3D Printing
Getting Started With Office 3D Printing
This white paper highlights how and why 3D printing can be more widely adopted in-house to enable improved product development cycles and reduced cost through more agile design and prototyping operations.

What you will learn:
 •   How to establish buy-in across the organization and overcome barriers to adoption?
 •   What organizational considerations should be taken into account?
 •   How should the logistics of a new in-house 3D printing setup be managed?
 •   What to expect once the 3D printers are up and running?

Best to proactively address environmental compliance
Best to proactively address environmental compliance
As the momentum to go green continues to build across the globe, the number of environmental regulations for reducing hazardous substances keeps growing. At the same time, more and more customers are now setting their own environmental requirements, adding more complexity to the mix. Ignoring the issue is not an option, as the consequences of noncompliance can be devastating to your bottom line.
