ISM Manufacturing Index Weakens in December

ISM Manufacturing Index Weakens in December


Manufacturing softened in December to its lowest level in more than a decade, the Institute for Supply Management said in a monthly report. The group's manufacturing index, known as the PMI, slipped to 47.2 percent in December, the lowest since June 2009. It was the fifth straight month where the index showed economic contraction in manufacturing. Still, ISM still expects manufacturing to recover in 2020.
