Manufacturing Eases Slightly in January, Still Running at a Strong Rate |
|
Manufacturing eased slightly in January but still performed at a strong rate, the Institute for Supply Management (Tempe, AZ) said. The group's manufacturing index, known as the PMI, was 59.1%, down from a revised 59.3% in December. Despite the easing, the January PMI was the third highest since February 2011. “We’re in a good environment here,” said Timothy R. Fiore, chair of ISM’s Manufacturing Business Survey Committee.
