Tesla CEO Musk Says 'Never Mind' to Taking Electric-Car Maker Private
After 17 days of turmoil, Tesla Inc. CEO Elon Musk ended his efforts to take the electric-car maker private just as unconventionally as he began them. Musk put out a statement late Aug. 24 that going private would be too big a distraction as Tesla seeks to establish steady, sustainable production. Musk's statemenet ended a soap opera that began when he sent out a tweet on Aug. 7.

Aston Martin said it will produce 25 replaica Aston Martin DB5 cars, the model made famous by the James Bond film Goldfinger. They're supposed to be equipped with gadgets. However, there are a few catches. They won't be cheap. The price is 2.75 million British pounds (that's about $3.5 million) each. And they won't be "road legal," Aston cautioned in a statement (albeit at the very end).

Humatics Corp. and Eckhart Inc. demonstrated a new factory automatic guided vehicle (AGV) capable of changing routes on the fly.The KinetIQ 300 (pronounced “kinetic”), a Humatics product, communicates with beacons placed around the ceiling of a factory. It can also travel outside where beacons are placed on poles. The Humatics system is mounted on an Eckhart AGV. It can be deployed more flexibly than traditional AGVs.The demonstration was a preview ahead of IMTS next month.
