Toyota Says It Is Not Welcomed After Trump Proclamation
Toyota Motor Corp. is known for two things: It’s the largest Japanese automaker and one that is conservative in its messaging. A proclamation from President Donald Trump about automotive trade spurred Toyota to lose the conservative messaging. “Today’s proclamation sends a message to Toyota that our investments are not welcomed, and the contributions from each of our employees across America are not valued,” the company said in a statement. Toyota made the comment while the clock is ticking on a deadline Trump set to reach auto trade settlements with Japan and the EU. Without a deal, the U.S. may slap on automotive tariffs.
